Trying New-to-me Hobbii Yarns

A big shout out to Hobbii Yarn for inviting me to pick out some yarns for me to try out and review! Hobbii Yarns is a European yarn brand based out of Copenhagen, Denmark that creates a wide variety of yarns (at great prices!) for knitters, crocheters, and fibers artists alike.

My first introduction to Hobbii Yarn was purchasing their Diablo Mohair Yarn for a Sheer V Sweater back in 2021, which is still one of my most worn projects to date. I loved that they had 60 colors to choose from, and each skein is only 6.60 for 25 grams of yarn, which allowed me to select a sweater quantity for my Sheer V Sweater in 2 shades because I was torn between two colors for the project. I honestly hadn’t tried any other Hobbii yarns until my #HobbiiYarnReview, so I was very excited to get my hands on four new-to-me yarns.

Divina - Sangria (Shade 15)

The first yarn I wanted to try was Hobbii Divina in the color Sangria. As its name suggests, Sangria is a beautiful deep red hue that I thought would be perfect for a holiday sweater. Divina is a worsted-weight yarn that has a blown structure and is very soft. It is made of 65% Baby Alpaca, 25% Polyamide, and 10% Merino wool. The Baby Alpaca makes this yarn feel lush and will make a perfect lightweight sweater.

There are 32 shades in the Hobbii Divina Yarn line, which means there are so many color combinations you can create, or you can use a single color on its own. The tube that the yarn is spun with is either black or white, giving the color depth. The Sangria shade is spun with a black tube and gives it a slightly heathered look.

I picked up a sweater quantity of this yarn for a Big Rib Sweater by Jessie Mae. While I haven’t started the sweater, I did swatch already! My gauge looks like it will be spot on, and I can’t wait to start this project in the next couple of weeks!

Silly Socks Disco - Neon Orange (Shade 2) and Black (Shade 6)

My next choice was the Silly Socks Disco Yarn, a fingering-weight sock yarn made from 75% wool and 25% Polyamide. There are eight fun and silly colors to choose from, and it’s a superwash-treated yarn, so you can easily toss these in the wash in a pinch. What really drew me to this yarn is that it glows when exposed to UV light! Unfortunately, I don’t own a UV light, but I will find a way to show how the yarn glows once I finish a project with this yarn!

When I chose these colors, I thought it would be perfect for making some fun stripy socks for Halloween, but I am so behind on my Halloween and Holiday knitting right now that I didn’t even cast on my socks. However, TellybeanKnits recently released Boneyard Sweethearts Sweater reminded me that they have a fingering weight hat, the Boneyard Sweethearts hat! So my project might pivot to a Halloweenie hat 🎃👻.

Let me know which pattern you would choose or suggest another one in the comments.

Manaya - Ochre/Brownie/Turqouise/Dark Blue (Shade 3)

Look at how beautiful this color is 😍!

I LOVE slow-striping yarn, so this beauty quickly joined my cart.

There are ten colors in the Manaya Yarn line, and I thought this shade was unique compared to the bright, high-contrast shades. This yarn is 65% wool and 35% acrylic. I often think of acrylic yarn being tough, but this blend is soft.

It’s a worsted-weight yarn and comes in a 200-gram ball with 558 yards. So, one ball of yarn is enough for a variety of projects. I did not have a plan for this yarn, but I think a simple tee shirt or shawl in a simple stockinette will let the colors of this yarn really shine.

Winter Glow - Black/Green/Yellow/Teal (Shade 15)

The last yarn I selected was this shade of Winter Glow (which was quite difficult to photograph).

While I like it, I don’t think the color was as accurate as the online photo. The color online had brighter pops of color, but the yarn I received had more muted stripes.

This yarn had a lot of similarities to Manaya; its a 200 gram ball of Worsted Weight Yarn, and is also self-striping! This yarn has a thick thin variation, so I would say it’s more of a light worsted or DK-weight yarn. This ball has 766 yards, so I would choose a project where the fabric may be a little more forgiving.

I’m thinking a cardigan or shrug might be a great way to use this yarn. Stay tuned for what this will turn into 😉.

If you are looking for more inspiration for your fiber arts, make sure to check out Hobbii Competitions for past and upcoming competitions! I searched through the Sweater Championship posts and saw color combos I wouldn’t have thought to try and was reminded of patterns that I have in my Ravelry library. I am looking forward to seeing the upcoming Christmas Sweater Showdown entries, there should be lots of holiday cheer in this category!

Thank you again Hobbii Yarn and I hope you all enjoy my #HobbiiYarnReview!
